This popular and well-established course is delivered over 3 years by a mix of interactive on-line webinars and face-to-face in-person workshops. It covers the age range 6-12, is developmentally based and combines in-depth study of Montessori theory relating to the primary age group with practical demonstrations of a wide range of materials and resources across all the curriculum areas of a Montessori primary classroom. There is a strong focus on building a curriculum to meet the needs of the children as individuals, with the ‘cultural subjects’ – history, geography, the sciences and the creative arts – at its heart, complemented by robust study of language and maths as tools to access and explore all the other curriculum areas.
